The Rainbow Trait is the holy grail of trait rolling in Defend Ur Base With Anime. It doubles every stat of the anime it is applied to — attack, speed, range, defense, everything. A Rainbow-traited unit operates at effectively twice the power level of the same unit without it. On a Void Reaper or Dragon Knight, this means the difference between clearing wave 35 and getting stuck there forever.
Why Rainbow Trait is S+ Tier
Each trait tier provides a stat multiplier. Here is how Rainbow compares:
| Trait | Multiplier | Effective Power | How It Feels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grey (F) | 1.05x | Same unit | You barely notice |
| Brown (D) | 1.1x | Slightly better | Noticeable in early game |
| Green (C) | 1.2x | Modest improvement | Feels like a small upgrade |
| Blue (B) | 1.35x | Solid boost | Meaningful in mid-game |
| Purple (A) | 1.5x | Major power spike | Unit enters a higher tier |
| Orange (S) | 1.75x | Transformation | Unit plays differently |
| Rainbow (S+) | 2.0x | Complete metamorphosis | Unit is unrecognizably stronger |
A Rainbow trait effectively turns a B-tier anime into an A-tier anime. On an S-tier anime, it creates something that approaches cheat-code territory.
What Rainbow Trait Actually Boosts
All base stats are multiplied by 2x:
- Attack power: Every hit deals double damage.
- Attack speed: Attacks come twice as fast. This effectively triples DPS when combined with the damage multiplier.
- Range: Double the detection range means hitting enemies from further away.
- Movement speed (melee units): Reaching enemies faster means less downtime.
- Merge level bonuses: All bonuses from merging are also doubled.
- Ultimate ability damage: Abilities that scale with stats hit twice as hard.
Note that Rainbow trait does NOT affect:
- Innate element advantages or disadvantages
- Ability cooldown rates (these are fixed)
- Trait inheritance mechanics
How to Obtain Rainbow Trait
Rainbow traits have a base appearance rate of less than 0.5%. This means on average, you need 200+ rolls to see one. However, there are ways to improve your odds:
Developer rate boosts: @OneBillionSixSeven on X/Twitter occasionally announces increased rates. During these windows, the rate may increase to 1-2%. This is still rare but cuts expected rolls from 200 to 50-100.
Special events: Bleach Part 1 had reported increased legendary rates. With Bleach Part 2 starting June 13, this is the best upcoming opportunity to aim for a Rainbow trait.
Milestones: The game reportedly increases rates when certain visit or favorite milestones are hit. 3.9M visits and 16K favorites are current public stats.
GOD Bundle: The paid Roblox bundle may include a rainbow trait as a bonus for certain tiers. Check in-game shop descriptions for specifics.
Where to Put Your Rainbow Trait
This is the most important decision you will make with a Rainbow trait. Putting it on the wrong anime is a tragedy. Putting it on the right one makes your account.
| Anime | Rainbow Value | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Void Reaper | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | True damage × 2 = most powerful combo in the game |
| Dragon Knight | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Hybrid damage × 2 = clears everything |
| Ice Mage | ⭐⭐⭐ | Freeze is utility, damage is secondary |
| Samurai Warrior | ⭐⭐ | A tier above its weight, but still a budget unit |
| Ninja Rookie | ⭐ | Massive waste. Do not do this. |
Expected Cost to Chase Rainbow
| Strategy | Expected Rolls | Approximate Time |
|---|---|---|
| Normal rate (< 0.5%) | 200+ rolls | Weeks of daily play |
| Boosted event (1%) | ~50-100 rolls | 1-2 weeks of focused farming |
| Event + saved currency | 20-50 rolls | If you saved 10+ tokens and the event has boosted rates |
| GOD Bundle | 1 purchase | Instant (costs Robux) |
Common Mistakes
- Chasing Rainbow on low-tier animes: Do not spend 200 rolls trying to get Rainbow on a Samurai Warrior. Save your currency for when you have a God-tier unit in hand.
- Not stopping when you get Orange: Orange (1.75x) is 87.5% as good as Rainbow (2x). If you roll Orange after 50 rolls, take it. Do not chase the remaining 12.5%.
- Chasing Rainbow without saved currency: Going in with 3 tokens and hoping for a miracle is how players waste weeks of progress. Always have 10+ rolls banked before attempting.
- Putting Rainbow on a unit you will replace: If you are mid-game and roll a Rainbow, the instinct is to put it on your best current unit. But if that unit is B-tier, you will replace it. The Rainbow trait is wasted. Save it for your long-term core.
