Dragon Knight is one of the two S+ tier animes in Defend Ur Base With Anime, alongside Void Reaper. What makes Dragon Knight uniquely valuable is its hybrid damage type — it deals both physical and magical damage simultaneously. This means no single enemy type can fully resist its attacks, making it the most versatile high-tier unit in the game.

Why Hybrid Damage Matters

Most animes in Defend Ur Base With Anime deal one damage type. Physical animes get blocked by high-armor enemies. Magic animes get reduced by enemies with magic resistance. Dragon Knight ignores this weakness entirely.

Here is how hybrid damage works in practice against common enemy types:

  • High-armor physical tanks: The magical portion of Dragon Knight's damage bypasses physical armor entirely. You still deal your full magic damage even if the physical component is reduced.
  • Magic-resistant casters: The physical portion connects and deals full damage while the magic part is reduced. You never go below 50% effective damage.
  • Neutral enemies with no resistances: Both damage types land for full value. Dragon Knight deals double-effective damage against neutral targets.
  • Shielded enemies (late-game): Some enemies have shields that block one damage type. Dragon Knight is one of the only units that always gets through — its mixed damage means shields can block at most one type.

This flexibility is why Dragon Knight is generally recommended as the first S+ tier unit to target, especially if you are still progressing through mid-game. It does not require specific enemy knowledge or positioning to be effective.

When Dragon Knight Dominates

Dragon Knight is not the best at any single thing, but it is excellent at everything:

  • Mid-game progression (waves 10-25): Dragon Knight solos everything. Place it in the middle of your defense and watch every wave type crumble. You do not need to know the enemy composition because Dragon Knight handles all of them.
  • Mixed enemy waves: This is where Dragon Knight truly shines. When a wave contains high-armor tanks, squishy casters, and shielded elites, most units need support. Dragon Knight handles all three simultaneously.
  • Speed farming daily waves: Its cone-shaped AoE basic attack clears fast. A merged Dragon Knight can cut daily clear time in half compared to A-tier units.
  • Co-op play (Bleach event): With server size 5, Dragon Knight's hybrid damage means you can cover any lane without worrying about enemy type. Your teammates can specialize, and Dragon Knight fills whatever gap exists.

Abilities Breakdown

Dragon Breath (basic attack): A cone-shaped attack that hits multiple enemies in a frontal arc. Unlike line attacks that require precise positioning, the cone means Dragon Knight covers a wide area naturally. The hybrid damage type applies to all enemies hit.

Dragon's Roar (ultimate): A large AoE burst that deals bonus damage to enemies with elemental weaknesses. The Dragon element has natural advantage against enemies that appear in mid-to-late game waves (waves 20-35). This ultimate charges faster than most, triggering roughly every 4-5 basic attack cycles.

The combination of cone basic attacks and frequent ultimate uptime means Dragon Knight has exceptional wave clear. It cleans up trash mobs while its ultimate eliminates tougher enemies.

How to Obtain Dragon Knight

Compared to Void Reaper, Dragon Knight is slightly easier to obtain:

  • Standard God-tier roll pool: Dragon Knight has appeared in regular rolls, not just events. This is the main reason it is considered "easier" to get.
  • Special roll windows: Developer One Billion Six Seven runs rate-boosted roll periods for God-tier units. These are announced on X/Twitter.
  • GOD Bundle: A purchasable Roblox bundle that reportedly guarantees a God-tier anime. Cost varies, but it is the only guaranteed path.
  • Bleach events: Dragon Knight was available during Bleach Part 1 and may return for Part 2 (June 13).

Recommended budget: Save 8-10 reroll tokens before attempting. Dragon Knight is less punishing than Void Reaper if you get a mediocre trait, but you still want at least Blue to make it worthwhile.

Placement Strategy

Dragon Knight's hybrid attack has medium range. Placement is more important than for a ranged unit:

  • Front line: Gets killed too fast on wave 25+ when enemy damage scales up.
  • Back line: Wastes its AoE cone potential — the cone needs enemies in range to hit multiple targets.
  • Middle of defense line: Ideal. Enemies reach Dragon Knight just in time for its AoE cone to hit the maximum number of targets.

Multi-lane maps: If you have only one Dragon Knight, place it on the busiest lane. Its hybrid damage means it is your best solo lane holder.

Best Trait Pairings

Attack speed is slightly more valuable on Dragon Knight than raw attack damage, because its hybrid attacks already deal strong per-hit damage. More speed means more cone breaths, more ultimate charges, more overall clear.

TraitValueRecommendation
Rainbow⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Endgame — farm everything
Orange⭐⭐⭐⭐S tier for all content
Purple⭐⭐⭐Solid for mid-game progression
Blue⭐⭐Acceptable stop point if currency is low
Green or belowNot worth the God-tier slot. Re-roll.

Common Mistakes

  • Front-lining Dragon Knight: It is durable for a hybrid, but not a tank. Keep it mid-line.
  • Ignoring its AoE advantage: Many players treat Dragon Knight like a single-target unit. Its value is wave clear, not boss DPS. Let Void Reaper handle bosses.
  • Settling for Grey trait: Unlike Void Reaper where Purple is the minimum, Dragon Knight is flexible enough that Blue is acceptable. But Grey or Brown is still a waste — keep rolling.
  • Not using Dragon's Roar positioning: The ultimate hits a large area. Make sure enemies are grouping up naturally before Dragon Knight starts its attack cycle.
